why do most men require variety in sex partners?

It has been my experience that most men fool around outside of their committed relationships, why? if they are in love with their partners and care for them and continue a relationship with them then why must they have sexual relationships outside of their relationships?

because they believe they can and not get caught to boot, or they believe that you will forgive such behaviour
