There are non-Jewish citizens of Israel

I never heard of anyone being offended for being called a Jew - and my 2 oldest and dearest friends are Jews. I also don't get offended when they call me a gentile -- it is simply a statement of fact.

Of course, you have not provided any sense of context, so it is possible that the phrasing or tone of voice in which the word is used can imply that it is meant in a derogatory way.

There is a big deference between Jews and Israeli Zionists, not all Jews are Zionists, I don’t consider myself a racist, I think all races are human we’re the same spices, for example Zionists are racist because they feel that Arabs are a waste of life and in their opinion insects have more rights than Arabs, I live in an Arabic country I have Arabic friends that know that I’m Jewish, I would personally take it as a personal insult if anyone calls me a Zionist, furthermore I feel offended by your question because you’re categorizing all Jews as Zionists and generalizing them in the same category as us the god and Torah Jews such as myself and the majority of the Jewish population because, in actuality, the Zionists are Atheists. That use Judaism as an excuse to be brutal to the Palestinians and undermined the Muslims and the Arabs in general.

Not everyone living in Israel is Jewish. There are Christians and Muslims too.

It's not racist I guess....it's just ignorant.

EDIT: ok, well in response to your additional information - some Jewish people find it offensive being called 'a jew' - my friend for example finds it offensive. I personally myself don't like calling a Jewish person 'a jew' because it sort of has a negative feel to it, don't you think? Anyway, some Jewish people don't find it offensive....it all just depends on the person.

It is wrong to call some one a name that may not apply to them.Just because you might live in San Francisco does not make you gay. So just because you live in Israel might be a Jewish state does not make everyone a Jew.

Well if you are catholic you would not want someone calling you Muslim. It is not that it is racial it is the fact that all Israelis are not Jewish,. You are stereotyping that person, which in a way is being discriminative.

The Muslims in Israel are Palestinians, part of their own country but ruled by the Jews.

Maybe they didn't appreciate that. Ask the person. Here, everyone can call each other the "n word". I don't like it though. It doesn't feel right. When they call you that, it depends on what they're trying to say about or to them. Or maybe they weren't a Jew.
