Nope, I close the lid. Had to do it when my daughter was a baby, and the habit stuck. Now it keeps the pets out.

Actually, women should learn to put it down as needed. Why is it automatically assumed it should be down.I like it up all the time so when i have to go i don't have to put it up. so, you ladies need to learn that it goes both ways
