Dude, Chad Pennington was passed over by all the big colleges and wound up at Marshall University in tiny little Huntington, West Virginia. He is now making millions as the starting QB for the New York Jets (too bad they won't get him a line or any recievers...). Just work your butt off, man. Small schools don't mean squat, the NFL drafts from little colleges, too. Just as the big colleges recruit from small highschools. Just keep your attitude and ego in check and keep working. Thats all you can do and things may just go your way.
But, on a different note, J.R. House of Nitro Highschool in West Virginia broke Tim Couch's national highschool passing record and where is he now??? He couldn't even make it as a #3 QB for WVU... Just keep it real and maybe someone will take notice.

Yeah, I used to be the best in my neighborhood too. Then some kids from the next neighborhood over started playing and I was bumped down to 3rd best. I never did get over it, either.
Being the best in your school means nothing. Hell, Tim Couch was "the best" at U. of Kentucky, and we all know how well he has done. He couldn't even make the Packers squad as Favre's backup. The guy was going to stand on the sidelines all season and he still wasn't good enough.
My point: Don't be thinking that just because you are the best in a small area you will be great at the next level. If you want to challenge yourself and prove your worthiness, attend a larger school.
I am assuming you were wanting approval here or something. There was no question in your statement. All I read was something that a 13 year old kid posted to make himself look good. It didn't work.

First off, you need to be starting at your school especially if its small because scouts only look for the best, especially for a team like Maryland. Get to a bigger high school, if not possible try to get a scholarship even if its a minor one, to play football, and be open to other options like safety, or WR because a lot of QB's switch positions in college and then go pro and become superstars. Hines Ward, Antwaan Randle El, and Matt Jones all played QB in high school, and are all now WR's.
Good Luck hope u get to start in Maryland.
Peace

Ok, im guessing you are in middle school now or younger. If that is the case then as soon as you are entering the summerbefore your freshman year you need to be lifting weights and increasing your agility. Doing too much lifting before this can damage the growth plates in you and keep you from growing. And DI schools look for big athletes. Increase your arm strength and accuracy. If you do go to a small school you will likely play both ways. Showing scouts that you are a talented athlete as well will improve your stock. Small high schools dont attract many scouts from large colleges so you need to go to every camp and combine you can. MD has football camps in the summer but dont limit yourself to just that as they send scouts to all of the area workouts. Talk to your coaches and they will be able to give you a list of the upcoming camps. Nike has camps in cities all around the US so look for the one nearest you. Making DI football is no joke. It will take every ounce of your ability. Good luck

If your high school goes deep into the state playoffs, you will get looked at by schools. If your team doesn't do much and you feel you have the talent to play on the collegiate level, you could try to walk on at Maryland the first year. From there, you will have a chance to earn a scholarship.

You can start out going to a smaller college in Maryland like SU or FSU. And then transfer and be a walk on at UMCP. Atleast than you will have some experience at the college level and sort of a resume to help your cause when you go up for tryouts.
