Try the northwest corner of the state. Very pretty.

Sparta is nice.

I live in NJ...South Jersey, that is.

I think just about anything south of the Trenton/Princeton area except Camden....

The further south you go, the more rural it becomes..southern Camden and Gloucester Counties are very nice..... If you go too far, you will be in the Atlantic City zone and everything is higher priced there...Check out areas like Collingswood, Pitman, Glassboro, Westmont, Audubon....

I used to live in both these places close to transportation to New York and all. I think the best places to live in New Jersey is Linden and Rahway. They have a great mix of people affordable rent and very near transportation to get around almost anywhere.
I like the school districts and there's stores everywhere.
