A lunar eclipse occurs whenever the Moon passes through some portion of the Earth's shadow. This can occur only when the Moon is full, and when the Sun, Earth and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so. The type and length of a lunar eclipse depends upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes. The next total lunar eclipse will take place on 3 March 2007 and will be at least partly visible over the eastern Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and western Australia.[1

LUNAR eclipses when the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, and SOLAR eclipses when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. Solar eclipses are more exciting because the sky goes dark in the daytime, and more interesting because we can discover facts about the Sun during a SOLAR eclipse in ways that are not normally possible.

The moon is out and you see it beeing engufed by a strange shadow. it is the earth blocking the moon from the sun. Have you ever seen it? A solar eclipse is vice versa. It is when the moon blocks the sun from the earth. You know what that looks like right?

At 10.30 tonight, the earth will be directly between the sun and the moon. The moon will get a bit darker and go a reddy colour. I and some of my mates will be watching it through binoculars and taking the odd photo. HTH LOL

Yes. This is a rare occasion when the earth blocks out the sun's rays from shining on the moon.
