I am angry at this very moment in time. Afraid I will say or do something I will regret later. How can I calm down?

When you're that mad, whisper! It makes your body relax and is surprisingly calming. Is there someone you can talk to? Write out what you are feeling and then destroy it if it is too harsh.

Screaming into a pillow never helped me --- made it worse.

Check out "Angry All the Time" - great book on how to reduce anger. Works for parents or prisoners.

I would take a long walk, play a video game, read a book, cook or bake, even clean. Anything to get my mind off of the problem. The walk is usually the best thing because it expels the pent up energy of being angry. Then when I've calmed down, I could go talk to the person in a mature way. What's gotten you so upset?

Push ups. Find a positive avenue to vent the anger. It is better to control your anger than let it go and do something stupid. It's called maturity and responsibility. So do a bunch of push ups. When I'm angry I go to the gym and take it out on a weight pile. I feel a lot better when I am done !

Start singing or humming a love song.

Remember, if you let someone get you angry it's because you are letting them control your emotions. If you stay angry, they ARE in control.

Play a violent shooter game and take out all your anger on virtual people instead of real people.

relax, breathe, if it's really making you angry or whatever, what I do is I write about it, it sounds weird, i know, but for some reason it really helps.
