I,m not following the "putting sheets away for the season" thing? Cause you should change your sheets more than 4 times a year, anyway; The drier sheets will work, also wash the sheets in hot water if you can and dry very well before storing.
Blocks of cedar will work and last longer.

Here's what I have done with good results.
1) Rinse sheets in washing machine set for cold water.
2) Reset machine for hot wash, cold rinse. Start machine. Add detergent. Add sheets. Do not add fabric softener. Let run through full cycle. An extra rinse at the end is a plus.
3) Dry as usual. Do not add dryer softeners.
4) Fold and store sheets in a blanket storage bag. Find one that allows air circulation.

PACK THEM IN AIR TIGHT BAGS AND PUTTING A DRYER SHEET IN WOULD BE GOOD AS WELL.
I GENERALLY USE THE BAGS THAT SHEETS COME IN THAT ARE REUSABLE. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WHEN I GOT THEM BACK OUT AND PUT THEM STRAIGHT ON THE BED. THEY SMELLED GREAT.
