It will be bad luck if you miss the eclipse today -- yes, it will be partially visible just as the moon rises and the sun sets, so your comment that you'll see it "today" is correct -- if you live where you can observe it. You will not have another chance to see another lunar eclipse until August. They do not happen every day, so you should watch it until it ends. Watching the stars and the heavens is a wonderful hobby, and if you can become a professional astronomer you will be even luckier.

There's no danger in watching a lunar (moon) eclipse, because the light coming from the moon is never unsafe to look at, at any time. There is a danger in watching a solar (sun) eclipse without a proper filter, because direct sunlight can damage the eye. Luck has nothing to do with either one.
