Unfortunately it is a lot, but breyer horses are highly collectable, and equally addicting. I can find it for 30-40 dollars.

I would buy a breyer horse that looked as close to breed and body color of your friends horse. Then buy paint and add the markings. A friend did this for my Mom when she lost her Arabian stallion. The friend bought the bay Arab stallion breyer and white paint and added his markings. I've been collecting breyers for years and often think about buying ones that are similar in confirmation and color to my childhood mare and my current gelding and adding the white markings. I'm no artist, but figure if I could draw the markings on the registration papers I should be able to paint them on the breyer.

Have you tried going to the Breyer website? Try that or try price values of breyer horses.

too much. Think about why you buy collectables like that. If it is for a toy, then don't buy it: it will just get torn up by a kid in about a month or neglected at the bottom of a toy box. If for a gift, then do what you feel is right. If for yourself, try collecting a cheaper item.
PS Check FAO Schwarts, they have hundreds!
