How is the government in the UK trying to make it easier for people to participate in the democratic process?

Is this for school or college? If so, maybe the answer is in the voting methods. I know the city of Sheffield has experimented with internet voting as well as electronic voting in booths located in the city centre. I think they also dabbled with mobile phone voting.

I may be well off the mark here, but if not, I hope i have given food for thought.

I will tell you exactly. 1. They introduced postal voting so old people and ditherers can vote at from home. 2. Internet voting is planned for the next elections so they dont have to get off their already fat rears to vote. 3 Regional assemblies to get people to think they are doing things for themselves. That should get you 60%
