Wiki Says:

"A stratified society is one marked by inequality, by differences among people that are regarded as being higher or lower... it is logically possible for a society to be stratified in a continuous gradation between high and low without any sharp lines... in reality... there is only a limited number of types of occupations... People in similar positions... grow similar in their thinking and lifestyle... they form a pattern, and this pattern creates social class."- Dennis Gilbert, The American Class Structure, 1998[2]

So, Dennis Gilbert is saying we need all types to creat a society. If we were all "Presidents" then there would be no one to take out the trash. If we were all janitor, there would be no one to lead. "Stratified" is layering the social types (poor, middle class, and rich) and this should look like a pyramid --- with the poor as the foundation, middle class (middle drrr), and rich the small portion on top.

I am a beliver in the happy index for the country because after a country reaches a income of 15,000 a year the people dont become much happier after that. Still, you gotta let people be greedy, and the goverment should play the role to make sure thier is no intentional harm or fraud on part of the investors occuring. Free Market leads to happiness if done in the correct way. Yet, comsumerism and materalism in excessive forms is bad, but its up to the indiviual person to find the balance the between spiriutality and materalism. http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/archive/S15/15/09S18/index.xml?section=topstories this gives my insight into it. After you can get essistenal the extra goods give a lot less ulitlty. Still, Happiness index is good indicator about society and should not be overlooked ethier.
