liquid eyeliner is much more difficult to apply.. it takes a lot of practice to get it perfect... i still cant do it and i've been trying for a long time... the pencil liner is deffenetly easier to use... but pencil liner smears easier than liquid.. so it does have its benefit to know how to use liquid.... practice and maybe it will become easier.. good luck!

I think it is way easier to put on pencil! Especially those "self-sharpening" ones that you just have to twist at the bottom. I find it so hard to control liquid liners, and it looks way too harsh no matter what I do or what kind I get. I like to smudge eyeliner a bit so it looks more natural. I can't get that with liquid. If you get a good quality pencil, it can look like a liquid liner without all the hassle. I use GOSH, which has a really good automatic pencil liner. Rimmel Exaggerate is *really* good too - the black is very black, and people used to ask me if I used a liquid liner all the time - but if you have oily eyelids I wouldn't recommend it.

Liquid eyeliner looks great when you're going for a dramatic look, but it is much more difficult to put on than pencil liner. Liquid liner takes practice to get it right and you need a pretty steady hand. In my experiences, the best way to do it is to sit at a desk or makeup table with a mirror - someplace where you can rest your arm. Use that table/desk top to anchor the elbow of whichever arm you use to do your liner and then use your free hand to hold your eyelid taut as you line your eye. Personally, I prefer to use pencil than spend the time messing with liquid liner. If I want to make my pencil look more dramatic, I'll draw it on slightly different (maybe smudge it, wing it upward at the outer corners, draw it on a little heavier, etc.) and will sometimes layer a line of powder eyeshadow over it in a deep, interesting color.

It takes a lot of practice to get it right. If you have a shaky hand, you can end up making a mess. But, after you've gotten used to it, you may find it easier to put on than pencil. I actually prefer pencil to liquid although liquid stays on longer.

No not for me. Pencil gives me more control. Liquid eyelinear is suppose to give a more straight line and a darmatic look. A penicl eyelinear gives a softer look. A good brush can also help give better control for liquid eyelinear. Pencil you have to sharphen to get sharp point. Then go with a penicl liquid eyelinear like Lancome Le styole.

Liquid eyeliner has a more dramatic effect and you must practise alot to get the technique right. The problem is that you apply it in one sweep so if you have a shaky hand this can cause problems. Also you can only apply it to your upper eyelid.
Pencil is easier to put on and you can smudge it to create a smoky effect.

No I dont think so, the liquid comes with a tiny brush and if you dont let it dry before you blink your eyes it stings your eyes really bad! So if you cry or anything oh yeah its going to run! I like the pencil alot better than the liquid, they also come with this manual pencil where you dont have to use the pencil sharpener =) I LOVE those kind!

To me it is because it goes on quicker and smoother. However, it's a acquired skill. When I first started using liquid eyeliner, my hands were shaky and I would smudge it somehow EVERYTIME. So it's not necessarily easier, but I like how liquid eyeliner looks cleaner and much more natural when you apply it properly. If you really want to use it, just practice applying it until you get the hang of it. Trust me you will, it just takes time!
Hoep that helps!

Well in my experience, liquid eyeliner is a lot harder (and messier). Pencil is easier. I guess it really depends on the person and what they prefer.
