BECAUSE ITS A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!! I live in Mexico and that's where I was born its special because its a different culture and different language and it has an amazing history and architecture. The beaches are amazing and there are many places to go site seeing why don't you look it up of go there to see for yourself. Larisa is wrong about the economy, it actually isn't that bad its not like everyone is begging in the street and who cares if its a poor country? It's a great place and no one can judge a place if they haven't even been there before! especially if they don't know anything about it!

I am an American that has made the decision to live in Mexico. I have lived here 8 years now, and never regretted it once! I will NEVER move back to the states. The Mexican people are so giving and non judgmental. They don't care what kind of car you have, or how fancy your house is. They love you for the person you are, not for the fancy material items you have. Nothing will turn a Mexican off more then a person with an uppity attitude. I feel the same way! I have a business here in town, and get so embarrassed with the behavior of some ot the Americans that come here to visit. They need to leave the "attitude" at the border! I feel a freedom here in Mexico, that I never felt in the states. The Mexican people are very happy people. Even the poor guy that comes around and picks up our trash is always singing and whistling. Mexican people for me, are a real pleasure to be around. If you make a Mexican friend, you have one for life! For me....I may be a gringa by color, but I am a Mexican by heart. I love Mexico!!!!!

I lived in Mexico for 10 years and we will retire back down there. It would be easier to say what is not special about Mexico. Most important, the people are the most gracious I've met anywhere, and I'm fairly well traveled. They are kind, honest, generous and happy in a genuine way.
The geography of the country is so varied that after years of traveling, you would not become bored. There is desert, mountains, volcanoes, tropical jungle, evergreen forest, lagoons and lakes, ocean beaches. My favorite part is the Altiplano, the high plateau in central Mexico, that's referred to as "eternal spring" because of the fabulous weather.
Then you have the food, which is fabulous, the architecture, the use of color, the charm of the colonial towns, on and on. It's easy for me to say that I truly love Mexico.

well, i think it's a lifestyle that is different than our own (americans.) i think we secretly would love to work less, play more, and have time for friends and family...but for some reason we don't. but mexicans do! and we call them lazy and all kinds of mean things, to make excuses for ourselves, for why we can't find time to enjoy these things...but the truth is that we could, we choose not too. mexico is a guilty pleasure because there, we can relax and have fun with family and take the time to sit out in the sun and have coffee, or go out for a long lunch with friends. we don't have to shop shop shop to keep up with our friends cars, houses, clothing, etc... the competition is gone, things are a reasonable price (for americans) and...i don't know...i just feel out of the rat race when i'm there...that is what's special!

I don't know if you meant so come across sounding the way you do but people will be offended.
What's so special about where anyone lives by choice or by birth?
Be careful how you choose your words.

It is beautiful in Mexico...It is paradise....I went to "Isla Mujeres" (Island of women) from the airport in Cancun...you take a taxi to the ferry...ride across the ocean (30 minutes or so) to the island of Isla Mujeres.....it is 6 miles long & 1/2 mile wide....absolutely breath taking.....the beach is in walking distance....the market street is fascinating....live music every nite,....good food (cheap) cobbled streets....transportation there are golf carts....no cars....the water in the ocean is clean...teal color....warm....I would recommend everyone to go there......you won't regret it....they speak english there....it would help tho if you spoke spanish especially when it comes to buying clothing...etc. otherwise, it is wonderful.. I want to go live there someday.
