Out of all the movie and new shows out there why do they continue to put crap on TV?

Cable eats up content and maximizes revenue. Using lots of reruns and recycled shows from existing U.S. and foreign networks is the cheapest way of filliing up time. Also, many cable networks are single purpose networks, e.g. scifi, with dedicated fans of a genre, so they will keep watching things that people who like variety would watch only once.

Royalties...crap is cheaper to broadcast.
It is also much cheaper for cable to broadcast repeats than create and broadcast original material.
