Do you have any suggestions as things to do with little kids that would be fun? I was thinking Mandalay and maybe Circus Circus, is there anything else in Vegas that may be appealing for a little one?

I am bringing my child because there is a family reunion happening in Las Vegas. We are also bringing along a babysitter as well, so it's not like I am being iresponsible or anything. But would like to see my family since I do not often get the chance. I asked this question to see if there were any kid friendly things to do with my child while I'm there.

I would suggest staying at the Orleans, they have a Kids Tyme. They will watch kids as young as 2 so long as they are potty trained. It's a great play area for the kids, and yes they do separate the kids by age.
The Orleans is the best value hotel in LV(IMHO) >very nice rooms, great food options.>free shuttle to the strip

Boulder Station has a Kids Quest and will watch kids over 6 weeks old.
I agree with the others >avoid Circus Circus
Mandalay Bay's best feature is it's pool, which is geared more for young adults.>MB is way overpriced IMHO
If you're looking for a great pool area without spending a small fortune. Both the Flamingo and Monte Carlo would be good choices.
If you want to see "street" performers>the ones at Excalibur, Aladdin and Venetian would be better.
We first took our little girl when she was 3 1/2 and she had a ball at Excalibur playing in the Fantasy Faire> where the kids win stuffed animals and the like.
Shopping is an option
The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace has some great places for "kids" of all ages. >He would love FAO Schwarz>They have the best stuffed toys and the price on the small ones is great.
Should keep the attention for a little while
The Fountains of Bellagio>every 15 minutes after 7pm
Fremont Street Experience>4 blocks long, 12.5 million lights, concert quality sound system, it's the worlds largest big screen.Every hour on the hour after dark.
(Free)>Lion Habitat at MGM > You can have your son's photo taken with a Lion cub($), this is too cute. They have handlers in with the Lions to keep them active, they bring in new Lions each day from a farm outside LV...
(Free)>The Animal Habitat at the Flamingo has some Penguins that are fun to watch.
(Free)>The White Tigers & ($)>Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage
Ride the Deuce(strip bus) >Go to the second level and take one of the front seats, the entire front area of the bus on the second level is glass, it makes for a great view of the strip lights..If you are on the South end of the strip, ride the Deuce out to the SSTT(South Strip Transfer Terminal) the bus will probably be empty and you can take one of these seats for a ride up and down the strip, back to your hotel>$5 for a 24 hour pass<
If you don't have a set time to visit this summer. >From Memorial day until about the 15th of June the rates are "generally" very low, the same goes for July 15th-27th...Avoid special events, large conventions and weekends to save money.
Buffets are a very good option, most will not charge for a 2YO

Later: I was just giving you options. We used to take a babysitter for our little girl along, it never was difficult to find a family member or friend who wanted a free trip to LV. She's 15 now, and still enjoys going to LV. You might find this site interesting.

The comments on Circus Circus are true, the place is on the downslide. It is about the only kid friendly hotel on the strip though. Mandalay Bay has the best pool area hands down. How bout renting a car and take a 4 hour drive to Disneyland. Vegas is not real kid friendly. Seriously.

Many attractions in Las Vegas can be scary to a little kid. Depending on their level of maturity, they might LOVE the volcano or they might be terrified of it. Shark Reef might fascinate them because it's a huge aquarium, but if they see the shark's teeth they might get scared. The noise in the casinos might be a bit much for them as well. A coworker of mine moved there when her son was 2 1/2 (husband was stationed at Nellis) and ALL they did was walk along the Strip because the signs fascinated him, and anything else freaked him out. In the summertime, it is usually over 100 degrees outside, how much fun will it be to bake your scalp all day? Not much in my book.
Children do not belong in Las Vegas. Period. The end.

Circus Circus is nasty...it's like the ghetto of Las Vegas. In all honesty, you should probably not bring your kid along.
