I would take him to a guinea pig veterinarian as soon as possible. Guinea pigs have delicate bones, and he may be injured! Guinea pigs always try to hide illnesses and injuries because they are prey animals, and predators like to go after the sick and weak.
For information on handling guinea pigs, so he won't jump out of your hands again, please read this link: http://www.guinealynx.com/handling.html

Well dear, you should have really treated him like that of a human that hits a hard surface and then does not move. If you move them it is to be done in a very careful manner. By keeping their spine and head still as much as possible in case there was any trauma. I am confused at that part when you say he never got back up until you lifted him. Are you saying once you lifted him he got back up and was fine? Sorta lost me there...
If he is in his tunnel now, perhaps he is fine perhaps he is not? You might want to pull him out of the tunnel and examine him to see if he is able to move around okay dear. If he is not moving around okay on his own then you need to take him to the vet.
If he is moving on his own then he will be okay and the reason he didn't initially move was because he was in shock. The noise will be okay.

Take him to the vet; small rodents can be very prone to breaking bones. After things have calmed down, take him out of the cage and prompt him to run around. If his back legs don't work, there's a very good chance that he broke his back and will be paralyzed for the rest of his life.

I say as long as your guinea pig is walking fine and doesnt freak out if you try and touch him he should be fine. But if he flips out and tries to bite you he might be hurt. consult a veternarian that works with small mammals. Call them and tell him what happend. They might tell you he probably bruised his back. But call anyways. (look it up in ur phone book...thought you probably already know that lol)
I will pray for your little guinea pig!!

Is he able to walk ok? Check his teeth, they get knocked out often when they're dropped. Press lightly along his spine, does he cry in pain? Is he limping? If somethings out of the ordinary, he needs to see a vet ASAP!!!

Well, if he was walking he should be fine...and just keep your neices out of your room...If your gerbal can move, its not injured, it just went into its tunel to rest...kind of like humans if they ache from falling, he was just probably lying down....But if it moves normally by tommorow he should be fine...just don't bother him...and let him rest...as usual...
