What do you do when people have created a rumour about you (lying)... and you want to clear your name and reputation?

An explanation: Some of my friends believe a lie about me. I told them the truth, but they still don't believe me. And I want to be friends with them again, but I don't think it is right to admit to a wrong I never did, because then I would be lying too.

May I remind you guys that is moral to love your enemies... I am not looking for an answer that deals with holding resentment...

Those people arent your friends. A friend would believe you.

Is there no way of proving you are not lying? No do not admit to anything that you did not do. It may take a while but your friends will begin believing you. Just drop the subject and it will go away much faster. (don't be reminding people of it) It will be something that you will laugh about in the future.

Completely forget bout the whole thing. as soon as it blows over dont ever bring it up:P
and out of all them pick 1 that you can trust bcuz they will belive you in person away from the others that you are tellin the truth. but while hes around the other guys he wil probably want to fit in and lie about what he believes. also STAND UP FOR YOURSELF no matter what!

Lets see! First off, if you had a good reputation in the first place then your friends probably wouldn't have believed the rumor and second just keep trying!! Don't give up, tell them again and again that its not true!

Look if they were real friends they would believe you! The real truth will come about in the end - it always does and you'll have them asking you to become friends again! Dont worry too much about it - if you stress you will look guilty and acting normal will show that you have nothing to hide! Forget about what the gossips are saying!

Never admit to doing something you did not do. it ruins character and is a lie (you're not a liar are you?). If these people are true freinds they would belive you, drop 'em. You will find people who value you as a friend and value your word. You need to be around positively charged people.

You told the truth and cleared your name. They have to accept the truth (but you can't make them accept it).

Social life is tough isnt it? if they are ur real friends ...they would believe what u told them. but why would they believe a lie about one of their friends? dont they know u ?

if they cant believe what u say to them ...why would u want to be their friend? i know that hurts terribly when ur own group singles u out. but it is time zlike these that u find out who ur true friends are. if u are true ....stand ur ground. they might not say it but they will respect u for it.
when people started rumours about me ...it made me feel important ...LOL !! dont they have anything better to do with their livez then to make up false storiez about u ?

This is a tough one.
It sounds like your friends aren't really your friends after all.

As hard as it may be, let this go. You've said what you had to say.

Rise above the battlefield. Take the high road.
The people who do care for you will come back into your life.

Patience.

Just be yourself, if anybody asks you about it just tell the truth. Eventually the evidence for who you are will drown out the lies, and who ever spread the rumor will be seen as untrustworthy.
