It really depends on your school district....
I spent almost 1,000 per year teaching elementery school, finally learned I could write it off in taxes.
Then for a few years we got a credit card provided by the district, 1,200 limit.

I am an australian primary school teacher and I spend about $7 000 a year. My account is cracking at me, but what do you do if the school can't provide the basics. I mean its a few less luxuries for me but I will go without for my kids.
