Some older printers require specific drivers. Go to the main website of your name brand printer (HP, Epson, Lexmark, etc) and look for a driver for that model printer that works with XP, then follow the directions to download it and install it.

You may install the driver from the CD which is provided with the printing device. Just put the cd into the drive and it does autoplay or you may double click the setup.exe file

Infact you may not have troubles with WinXp in installing driver for a new hardware

C'mon Sarge, get to the printer web site and look under support. Download the driver and install it.
