As a teenager I paid 26 cents per gallon. Cheaper duing the gas wars. As I remember, it was around 75 cents in 77.

62 cents a gallon.
A few weeks ago a woman told me of writing home from Europe to her mother. She converted the currency and liters in 1965 and wrote, "Can you imagine, gas is 60 cents a gallon here!"

I think I was paying around $1.299 and that was for Gasahol which was 15% grain alcohol. I wonder whatever happed to Gasahol, it didn't require any modification to the engine and worked fine. We could have cut our gas consumption by 15%
without trying.

It was high relative to inflation. I do recall it being around $1.29 in 1980.
