Jordan is the best dunker ever because not only did he have the jumping ability, but he wasnt afraid to drive down the lane and dunk on people in an era where basketball was much more physical than it is now.

Dominique Wilkins of the Atlanta Hawks. The "human highlight film" had the perfect balance of power, jumping ablilty and grace whether he dunked in a game or in a slam dunk competition.

Dr J : Julius Erving. Everyone copied the doctor. Remember when he threw it down on Gilmore, while Gilmore was right in front of him!!!! What about the time Cooper went to block him and he just kept on going up. The doc would throw it down on people. If no one was around, he wouldn't waste the energy. But if a defender was around, he wouldn't try to beat them in a foot race, he would simply elevate and power through them. You can't beat the Legend of Dr J.

Vince Carter
Reasons: He has elevation, air control, dunk contest trophies, dunk in clutch situations, and maybe he is the only one who uses the dunk as a weapon on key moments, and not as just a common play

"Best" is relative since all dunks are worth two points. Ergo, it's all opinion.
Thats like asking: what is 2+2? I don't want to hear any numbers, just answers.

Wilt Chamberlain. I saw him go up with two guys grabbing his arms and he still powered up and dunked - broke the hand on one of the guys trying to stop him, too.
