how do i use 7zip?

Im new to 7zip, i wanted to extract the RAR files w/7zip. but i keep getting "file is broken" message. Can someone pleeaaassee tell me what the problem is?? thanks....

Chances are that the .rar file is damaged and 7-zip can't open it for that reason.
