Look in the fron of the engine down low or follow the fuel line from the carb. It is mechanical, not electric and I think it is attached to the timing gear cover with 2 lines and 2 1/2 inch bolts.

I don't recall what year Lincoln switched from carburetors to fuel injection but I know my '86 is injected. If the car is fuel injected, it will have an electric fuel pump is in the fuel tank. To get at it to inspect or change it, the fuel tank will have to be dropped. If the car has a carburetor, the fuel pump is likely mechanical and can be found on the side of the block (I'm thinking drivers side). A small, likely aluminum piece with with two lines coming out of it. Remove the clamps from those hoses, and a couple of bolts will remove the pump from the block. Put the new one on the same way and you're golden.

its the front part of the fuel tank.. its connected. if its broken you can just have someone hit that front section really hard while another person tries to start it and it will start. i think its on the passenger side? if you're fixing it yourself you should be able to do it in a day.
