Anaheim Ducks - Scott Niedermayer (Arguably the best defenseman in the league)
Atlanta Thrashers - Marian Hossa (My MVP vote, total two way player.. PK and PP. More points than Kovalchuk at the moment.)
Boston Bruins - Zdeno Chara (Great, solid defenseman. Leader of the team.)
Buffalo Sabres - Daniel Briere (Tough, as there is no ONE superstar on this team, definitely winning by committee.)
Calgary Flames - Jarome Iginla (One of the best North American players who is not a goaltender. Complete player who's not afraid to rough it up when need be.)
Carolina Hurricanes - Eric Staal (Numbers are down from last year, but he's the real deal and I think the best overall player on the Canes.)
Chicago Blackhawks - Martin Havlat (The face of Chicago, for sure. Without injury woes he could be within the top 10 scorers.)
Columbus Blue Jackets - Rick Nash (Young player, has already won a Rocket trophy, could definitely be more to come.)
Colorado Avalanche - Joe Sakic (No brainer, Joe is the man in Denver.)
Dallas Stars - Sergei Zubov (Brutally underrated, one of the best offensive d-men in the league. I'd consider Turco, but he disappears in the playoffs.)
Detroit Red Wings - Nick Lidstrom (If Scott Nidermayer isn't the best defenseman in the league then this guy is... And I think he is.)
Edmonton Oilers - Ales Hemsky (Not a team of superstars, but I think Hemsky stands out a bit. Heaps of talent, and he seems to be getting a little better. Still wastes time with the puck.)
Florida Panthers - Olli Jokinen (Leader of the team, definitely a standout in a team of nobodies.)
Los Angelas Kings - Alexander Frolov (Under-rated player. Definitely the best on the Kings RIGHT NOW... Within 3 years it will be Kopitar, but right now I'm sticking with Frolov.)
Minnesota Wild - Marian Gaborik (Could be on pace for 60 goals this season without the injuries.)
Montreal Canadians - Saku Koivu (An easy pick. I considered Souray, but Souray is a bit too unreliable in his own end. A great PP QB, but I may even take Markov over him in free agency this Summer. Koivu is consistent, reliable, and a great leader.)
Nashville Predators - Peter Forsberg (Can be the most dominant player in the game. A total package. Combines physicality and skill, and never gives up on a play.)
New Jersey Devils - Martin Brodeur (No commentary necessary. Probably the best goalie ever.)
New York Islanders - Ryan Smyth (Blake may have one more goal, and 3 more points, but he's played 10 more games. Smyth is a great player who is not afraid to get gritty. Total heart.)
New York Rangers - Jaromir Jagr (One of the best European players ever. Now declining a bit in skill, but still a phenomenal talent.)
Ottawa Senators - Dany Heatley (On the brink of back to back 50 goal seasons.)
Philadelphia Flyers - Simon Gagne (Not a GREAT talent, and will definitely miss Forsberg, but Philly isn't a great team right now and Gags is their best.)
Phoenix Coyotes - Shane Doan (I really like Doan. I think he's a great player, and it was smart of the Coyotes to lock up the face of their franchise for a few more years.)
Pittsburgh Penguins - Sidney Crosby (The face of the league. Arguably the best there is in the world at the moment. If he isn't yet, he will be in a few years.)
San Jose Sharks - Joe Thornton (Fantastic player. Big, physical, great vision... One of the premier playmakers in the league.)
St Louis Blues - Doug Weight (Getting old, and out of his prime... But he's still the man in St. Louis. There are some young talents who could take over top spots soon enough.)
Tampa Bay Lightning - Vincent Lecavalier (Will most likely with the Richard trophy this year. A very skilled scorer and passer... Backchecking needs a bit of work.)
Toronto Maple Leafs - Mats Sundin (The unquestioned leader, and best player on the Leafs.)
Vancouver Canucks - Roberto Luongo (Second best goalie in the league, has stolen a ton of games for my Canucks)
Washington Capitals - Alexander Ovechkin (No doubt here. One of the most exciting players in the league on a bad team)
