Ok well i am a gymnast of 10 years..and if you actually do the sport and see the guys working out..well let me just say that they have a lot of muscles..and i think that the only reason people see them as gay is because they have to wear leotards also...but its not like they wear them like the girls..at least they get to wear pants or shorts.. But personally i dont think that male gymnasts are gay...they have to work very hard to be good... and whoever thinks that male gymnasts are gay..well maybe they shouldt ry to be an elite gymnast and see the male elite gymnasts..then they can tell mewhat they think about male gymnasts...hehe sorry got a little worked up there..lol ok well bye!

Are you kidding? Male gymnasts are some of the strongest, toughest people in the world. Not that gay guys can't be strong, but people have no reason to stereotype gymnastics like that.

They are stereotyped in this way simply because they compete in a sport that our society believes to be feminine. Gymnastics is a sport that focuses a lot of grace, beauty and poise. These are also characteristics that our society believes are some of the most important for women to possess.
So, because a male gymnast is participating in a feminine sport that focuses on feminine characteristics many people believe these men are gay because no "masculine, straight man" would ever participate.
It all boils down to stereotypes.

because when most people think of gymnasts they automatically think of girls. gymnastics was started as only a guy sport tho. guys gymnasts ussually have a lot of muscle too tho so its just kinda the way people see things.

They're not, neither are male cheerleaders. They are just as athletic as any Football player or any male in any other sport. I would love to see males who think these guys are gay, do the things they do.

guy gymnaasts are not always gay. other people are just jealous bcuz they have bigger muscles than most guys and they get to see a whole bunch of other girls in gymsuits all the time. i am a girl gymnast and there is no gay guy at my gym...

For the same reason male figure skaters are: it's a sport more known for its female athletes. Because of this, people think men who want to participate in it are also feminine.
