I usually prefer to read, but some special words are much better heard.
My name, for example, sounds sweet, I can never hear it enough, especially from the persons I love. :)

When I hear them, I just get confused and have to ask to repeat. When I read them, I have to read them over again. I've always had a learning disability and am a little slow at things like that.

I learned English as my third language and sometimes I could read a word a hundred times, but couldn't remember it. When I heard someone say it out loud, I'd remember... I guess hearing for me at least to a certain point.
