Yes, neither of them ever contemplated defeat, but . . .

Hitler was mad enough to think that he could force things to happen just by issuing orders, even when the resources to do what he commanded simply didn't exist. Churchill adjusted his hopes to the resources that he actually knew could be made available. His attitude encouraged other people to be inventive and make more resources available.

Yes, I think that is a fair statement to some degree. Both were brilliant, determined men. That is pretty much where the similarities end, however, as Hitler was completely insane and Churchill was noted for his level headedness.
