my mom lives in an area where highspeed or dsl won't work but if I get dlink will i be able to connect to somewireless network?

it would work, but not to its full potential
it is possible to connect to another wireless network with the modem. In order to do this, you would have to set it up, so instead of it acting as an access point, it would be Ad-Hoc, where it basically bridges another access point. In order to do this, the network would have to be unsecured. That opens up many security risks. This method isn't always effective. Sadly, wireless networks are not common with out high-speed, and wireless with dial up is laughably slow.
If you just want to connect to someone elses internet, just buy a wireless card for the computer. DLink sells these cards, for both desktops and laptops.

An alternative, is "Broadband Speed Dial up." This service provides a higher speed internet to rural areas.

It works if the area u mentioned have sufficient signal strength for the wireless internet providers and it is independent of the brand of the modem you use.
Infact Dlink is a good product.

not usualy as there has to be a wireless signal for the modem to pick up... sounds like oyu need to start buging wireless providors to get dsl in your area

nope,if theres no dsl or wireless cable ,u wont be able 2 connect ,no matter wat modem do u have .
