Well, it really depends on her body shape:
If she doesn't need to hide anything, try a bikini.
If she needs to hide her middle, try a tankini.
If she's a little self-conscious about her thighs, try a regular bikini top with a shorts bottom.
For bathing suit colors, try to find whatever compliments her skin color best.

um.. is ur friend fat? or skinny? flat? it all depends on the body shape.
if they are fat wear a 1 pecie
really skinny wear a 3 peice
and skinny a 2 pecie. if she** is skinny and flat, do not get a 1pecie suit. it will look really terrable!

If she is really Tan get her one that is a lighter color so it make her look even darker! If she has lighter skin tone get her one that is white it will help her look tan!

if she is bigger she should wear a tankini or one peice
if she is skinnier she should wear whatever bathingsuit flatters her tha most. brite colors are also good and cool pattern like dots.
