I would love to find out what the best route is in submitting sample demos to big time record labels such as Columbia, Geffen, AM, and others of the like?

Is there a specific mailing address that it should be sent to?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hehe. This question is not PERSONALLY for me. I am in no way, shape or form, in the position or talent caliber, to even phathom that I would be chosen by such popular Record labels. Though I love to sing, Its only done on a very, very. very amateur level, like sub karaoke. lol. So for myself, getting a record deal is not any where in the career horizon. hehe.

But I am asking on behalf of a wonderful friend who I feel deserves a listen. But my friend is a little apprehensive about the process so I wanted to do a lil research.

Keep sending answers,
VERY HELPFUL this far!
[Ps. any smaller record label names would be great too]

Each Record label's website has a submission adress you can find. As for submitting, they each have their own requirements. Best thing is, if there arent, to submit 3-4 full songs showing the best variety of skill and talent. And don't get too determined. You are submitting to some of the top record labels and chances are they won't accept. Most band's that get on those labels are on smaller labels already with huge ammounts of talent. You should look for small labels in your state to start with because you have a 5% chance of making it to a huge label like Geffen or Columbia (no offense, trying to help)

Big labels simply will not accept unsolicited submissions. It sucks, but they will either trash em or stamp them "return to sender". Only way to get your stuff thru their doors is thru a music agent (reputable) or music atty, ect. You CAN, however, find smaller indie labels that DO take unsolicited demos, and many times if they sign you they might later "sell" your contract to a bigger label. Find the book "Songwriters Market 2007" in it will be many mailing addys for such labels.

stay away from the labels!!! become friends with a local D.J., get air play ,let the labels seek you. Most demos are just placed in a pile (others are used as coasters). Participate in local shows (labels often scout there) get a job in a mail room @ a label and become friends with the janitor ( they truly have lots of influence!!)

Going directly to the labels gets you nowhere, i'm afraid. They hate human beings drawing close them promptly - what they fairly want is to have faith the shown be attentive to expertise brokers who've provided expertise for them interior the previous. you should discover representation, a supervisor or a expertise Agent, and that they'll actively seek for out paintings for you. that's the way it works. you will want a plenty extra effective fulfillment cost in case you bypass approximately it this way! suitable of luck!

yeah, only three or four songs on a demo b/c those people do not want to sit around and listen to a whole album. i would try for a smaller record company unless you honestly think you are amazing and that after listening to a couple songs, they will think you are amazing. you can look up mailing addresses.
good luck!
