I got 460 on critical reading, 380 on Math, and 380 on the Writing, and i got a 6 on my essay. How do i get my final score, do i just add those together? I added 460, 380, and 380 and came out with......a score of 1220. Is that my final SAT score? and also is that an okay score, i mean i know its not great, but i took the SAT without ANYYY prep. for it. I didnt have a calculator, so i was unprepared, so im planning to take it again. Is that an okay score (factoring in, I didnt prepare at all, and was unprepared)? Also....this was my 1st time taking it

You are correct. Your Critical Reading score + your Math score + your Writing score = your composite, or final, SAT score.

With a 1220 (in the bottom 17th percentile), you will probably want to take the test again. Unless your other credentials tell a different story from your SATs, there aren't many colleges that will accept those scores. Colleges will NOT factor in the circumstances surrounding the test, no matter how unfair it might seem.

Since your Critical Reading score was not as low as your other two (although unfortunately still quite low: 34th percentile as opposed to 12th percentile), if time is limited you may want to focus on preparation for the Math and Writing sections. Buy a prep book, try keeping a journal or writing practice essays, and get some reading in during the day. There are flash cards you can purchase to build your vocabulary as well. Math is not as easy to practice on your own, so for this you will definitely want to consider taking a Stanley Kaplan course.

Good luck, and remember that calculator!

Yes, you add all of those to get your final score. I would take it again, but not stress out about it so much, I think it's more prevalent for colleges to look at community involvement, volunteer work... that kind of stuff. Try and do some volunteer work relevant to the degree you're going to pursue, unless you plan on going to Harvard or an Ivy League school, then I'd start some prep work for sure.

It's not a very good score, and yes, that's what you do, add it all together.

I recommend you prep hard for it and remember a calculator next time
