I am writing a research paper for college concerning the effects of a national smoking ban. I would love feedback from you all on these following questions. Thank You so much!

1. How much do you smoke per day?

2. How much do you spend per day/week?

3. If you live in a state that imposes the Clean Indoor Air Act, did this deter you from smoking? (Did you cut down or quit?)

4. With each rise in cigarette excise tax, does this increase deter you from smoking? (Did you cut down, or quit?)

5. Do you want to quit? If so...

6. What methods have you used to help you quit, and were they effective?

(I may be posting this question several times to get a good number of participants. Please post only once. Again, Thank You!)

1) About 20-25 cigarettes per day.

2) About $30.00 a week

3) I do live in one of those states, and my smoking habits have not changed one bit, except for standing further away from the door of my office building (as required by law) when I go outside to smoke.

4) When cigarette taxes skyrocketed in my state, I began driving to a neighboring state (20 minutes away) to purchase cigarettes. Again, my smoking did not change, and I save money.

5) I suppose I will quit eventually. I am not ready yet, though.

6) I've tried cold turkey before. Didn't work at all.

1. 2packs
2. $40 per week
3. I live in Clean Indoor Air state. This does not deter me. In fact I seem to be smoking more when I get the chance because there are so few places that I can smoke. Definitely smoking more at home.
4. No it does not deter me but it makes me furious. I buy out of state and sometimes roll my own. Eventually I'll have to buy them on the black market.
5 I don't really want to quit. I think if people stopped trying to force me I might consider it.
6. In the past I have tried Nicorette and the patch. Also hypnosis and cold turkey. Non of them were effective. I did stop once for three years but went back to smoking.

1 - About 1.5 packs per day

2 - About $40 per week

3 - I rarely go out to bars or out to eat, so the ban in restaurants/bars had very little impact for me. BUT - If I were going out, I'd be more likely to go somewhere that allowed smoking.

4 - No, the price increases didn't really make a difference.

5 - Yes, I want to quit.

6 - I've tried Welbutrin (the pill) a few years ago, and it did nothing for me. I've tried the patch, and that helped somewhat, but I started smoking again when life got stressful (within a week). I plan on starting the patch again next week - WISH ME LUCK!!!
