My personal thoughts about the poem showed me a darkness of secrecy apon henceforth nightmares corrupt with the beauty of excitement and heartful fears.
And with a closesure of repetitive "Forever More", I find that quite a metaphoric standard for life.
In English: I think this was a metaphoric poem on how excitement, jealousy, and greed is brought throughout life, "Forever More".

You know, it's a nice poem and all, one of the better poems I've read, even. But I'm more a fan of Poe's humorous writings. He doesn't get much credit these days for being funny, but I think some of his best pieces were his humor. You can read some of them here:

Some good ones are:

The Angel Of The Odd
The Business Man
The System Of Doctor Tarr And Professor Fether
How To Write A Blackwood Article/A Predicament
(though these two are always listed separately, they are two parts of the same story)
King Pest
Literary Life Of Thingum Bob, Esq.
The Man That Was Used Up
Mellonta Tauta
Never Bet The Devil Your Head
Some Words With A Mummy

Hope you enjoy 'em.

I love this poem. Personally, I did not find it the least bit near the shocking or scary side, but I find his writing style mind blowing.
My favorite part of the poem is where he says,"Swung by Angels whose faint foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor",he has magnificent imgagery. Certainly he was what people inspire to be,but certainly have not hit the mark

It was so long ago I forgot the whole book. I wish I remembered it. I remember reading it back in 11th grade.
