When my son was around 3-months old, my husband and I travelled to see my family in Ohio (a 9-10 hour drive). We made sure we had a cooler to keep his formula and sterilized water in. Whenever he was hungry, I would go ahead and warm up a bottle with my in-car bottle warmer before we stopped. I'd get in the backseat and feed him, burp him, and play for a bit. Then we'd go on our way. I made sure to have those little carseat toys, and we played music to keep him entertained. The drive took around 10-hours in all, but it was very pleasant and non-stressful. Every child is different, though. My son loves riding in the car. I hope your trip turns out all right, though!

When my daughter was a baby, we traveled alot! I lived in Tennessee & my family lived in Florida (only about a 10 hour drive). We would come visit quite a bit. I would drive at night ALOT. It was just easier. I have never done the 24 hour thing though. Good luck with that. Are you planning on staying the night half way? You may want to consider that just so he's not in his car seat for that long, ya know? Have a good trip!

he'll probably sleep most of the way
get some toys that attach to the car seat and plan to stop every 3-4 hours to get a stretch, feed and change
someone might have to sit in the back and keep him entertained for some of the trip (read/look at baby books, rattles, teddy bears etc...)also play some soft baby music

my daughter turned 5 months old while my boyriend and I were flying to Oregon, she did really well, and we had to switch planes twice. Babies will get impatient no matter what, bring lots of toys that are visually stimulating, and just try to enjoy the trip

If you could, prepare him for longer periods in the car, perhaps a 1 hour drive somewhere and back, so that he isn't totally unaccustomed to longer drives.
