Being a white person is Canada or America you are automatically seen as 'mainstram', but i was wondering if any of you have ever experienced discrimiation because of your gender, age, white priviledge or anything like that. Examples would be appreciated please. Thanks friends!

yeah, I have experienced a lot of racism,, being a white man that lived in a hispanic neighborhood for 4 years and going to a heavily hispanic and black college

I VE been told everything is easy for me becuase i am white, I ve been called a cold white person, I've been told Hispanics have better 'feelings' then white people,

i VE beeen witnees to Hispanic immigrants that don't let thier children hang out with white children, becuase they believe they are a 'bad influence' now tell me that isn't sickening,,,,teaching your children to be bigots,,,,so the cycle continies

Every time my old roomate would quit his job he would claim his white boss was 'racist' and was discriminating him ,,in reality anything less then kissing his ***,,,would be too much for his racist ego

some of the people,,,especially the unhappy ones ,,,,would get offended if you didn't agree with thier ethnocentric view of the world,,,,that everything hispanic is better than white American,,,,anything short of that and they would brand you another white racist,,,,,its tottally disgusting ,but if you don't believe me go live in East La for a while and youll will probably make friends but you will be disgusted by thier ignorant mentality

Its not like that everywhere in America. I went to quite a schools where white was not the majority. I wouldn't know what white priveldge feels like, I was treated like a freak as the only white child in a class full of non whites over several years in different schools.

i've been called many things mainstream isn't one of them.when i was younger i came from a school so white that folks actually disliked each other for the music we listened to we had the "rappers" and the "skids" (the first describes itself the second being the guys who like their heavy metal) me being part of the second. i got to know how shallow any kind of discrimination is due to that but yes my being white has always allowed me to see racism on the outside looking in unless you count being called "race traitor" by the real die-hards

Discover, I could tell you many incidences of discrimination...in employment because of both age and gender, in receiving services like health insurance, in being listened to and respected, in religion by being told I am a fool...it goes on and on. I find no advantage..for ME...in being mainstream but maybe mainstream for us really IS white, anglosaxen, heterosexual men of appropriate age and position.

The only "discrimination" I've ever gotten is because of the length of my hair. (Past shoulder-length)

Although I do know a white girl who moved to a mainly black and pretty poor neighborhood in Florida. And a bunch of black kids would harass her everyday (throw stuff at her car, yell things, etc) and when she tried to talk to their parents, she was shouted down by the parents and called a racist.

And shes one of the most peace-and-love, hippy-dippy people I've ever known. Shes the furthest thing from racist. So, I'd consider that discrimination against a white person based on skin color.

But theres racism everywhere and from everyone, dont you know. Blacks, whites, etc. Theres rotten eggs in every basket so they say.

I live in Southern California, where white has become the minority in some areas. Racism and prejudice are just part of life around here. Everyone is always looking over their shoulder, regardless of their color.

I've been discriminated against being a redhead, short, jewish, a vegetarian, a democrat, skinny, fair skined, friendly, shy, smart, large eyed, pretty, busty, and even white.

If I told you every discrimination story of mine it would take up several pages and more.

Anyway that's why I really try not to discriminate.

there is a lot of racism in the military, despite what a lot of ppl think. my husband gets a lot more heat from one of his superiors than the other black ppl in his unit. it's gotten so bad that he wants to go to a different unit.
