It really depends on the circumstances. It could have been a bad day or time. Sometimes people are really busy and when they finally get a free moment they don't want to do anything. Sundays aren't always a good day - I looked up the date - sometimes people are preparing the week ahead on that day. Maybe try a Friday or a Saturday. You could also try to make it sound casual - or make it casual. When I did my 20th birthday my friends and I just went out for dessert. I told them not to get me any presents - it wasn't that kind of party - just a mini-celebration with my friends. Money could also be an issue - try to do something inexpensive. Transportation could also be an issue. Good luck!

That's awful they didn't come to eat dinner with you last year. There's no excuse that they didn't give you a good reason. Maybe they were too embarrassed to say they couldn't afford to go out to eat, or didn't have the money for a gift but felt obligated to bring one if they came. Maybe this year, if you can't afford to treat them to Red Lobster, invite them to your house to watch movies and have chips and dips and stuff that evening. Or maybe you could meet them at a pizza place or Chinese buffet where it's not so expensive for whoever is paying (you or them). I hope you have a really great birthday this time.

Depends on if they expect you to pay for their meals and if they bring a gift. Someone should offer to pay for your food since it is your birthday. Next time go out of town for your birthday and have fun. Go to the movies. Buy yourself something that you always wanted. I'm sending you a early happy birthday. Wish i could be there to make your birthday like no other. Friends are friends when they think about someone else besides their self. Friends will always be there for you. Friends make you happy and not stressed out.

You already know the answer.
hard to eat alone ain't it?
if they did not show up either, you have a very serious problem, try to ask them why.
And if they never show up, forget the sadness and eat it with pleasure, try to make friends in the restaurant.
Anyway, happy upcoming birthday.
A wish to you, my friend.

Well, isn't it a bit narcissistic to plan your own birthday celebration? People tend to stay away from narcisistic types.
