what are the specs on your laptop? how much memory do you have installed? what processor do you have and what is the ghz or mhz rating? also, if you hit ctr+alt+del what processes are taking up the most cpu and memory?

any heavy graphics driven interfaces can bogg down an older or low spec system, so it realy depends upon your specs and knowing what the big processes taking your memory and cpu are, once those factors are known, then we can get to the bottom of this :)

just check no. of processes running for free just end them ........
u can also reduce the no. programs at the startup by typing "msconfig" at the run command .then uncheck the undesirable processes.......this will help a lot .......u can also improve the size of virtual memory ...........
