Hahaha!! No offense, it's just that your question reminded me of when my son was around that age. He'd purposely hit himself in the head with anything and everything he could get ahold of (teething toys, stuffed animals, the couch, his own fists). I even moved my coffee table into the spare bedroom, so he'd quit banging his head on it while he walked around it (he was learning to walk). I didn't want people thinking I beat my child. And like one other guy on here mentioned, I DID videotape it just so I'd have proof that it wasn't ME. I think kids just find the sensation interesting and whenever they find anything interesting, they tend to go overboard with it. They are interesting little creatures, and trust me, this won't be the last odd thing he has you worrying over.

This is sooo normal. My son used to bang his head on the crib. I just made sure there were bumpers so he wouldn't hurt himself. I doubt he can do much damage with his fist. It probably just frustrates him more if you hold him down.

I think it's normal. My husband's brother used to bang his head against the wall.

Just don't let him get a hold of a hammer or a rock and you should be OK.
