Top CIA officials have said the war in Iraq put a huge dent in our ability to fight the Taliban. The CIA does not have many forces as it used to have assigned to looking for Bin Laden. Bin Laden may not be dead, because members of the Taliban have said they have regular conversations with Bin Laden. As our president knows, we must take what our enemies say seriously. And this is a potential threat if true.

Don't we need to take care of the Taliban first, since they are assisting the terrorists in Iraq and turning Afghanistan into Hell on earth?

Our president enjoyed boosting his approval rating to the 90's by giving us an empty promise that "we will hunt down those responsible".
Shouldn't we now send more search units to finally have that promise fullfilled?

Yes. While we are putting the majority of our military resources into Iraq - the Taliban have been gaining strength in Afghanistan. It this continues to happen, the result will be further destabilization of the entire region. There is already evidence that the same people who are supporting the insurgency in Iraq are also helping the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan. They have everything to gain by regaining control in Afghanistan. Our troops in Afghanistan deserve our support.

You are absolutely correct! I would pull our troops out of Kosovo, S. Korea, Japan, Okinawa and Germany and move some of them into Afghanistan. I would add Iraq to this list because the Iraqis will never learn to live with democracy. They will continue to kill one another and we shouldn't be involved. There is absolutely no way of stopping this hatred that they have for their own. It has been going on for thousands of years well before the Islamic faith was founded.

History tells us that a troop surge in Iraq won't work, so I think your idea is a better idea.
