Don't go accusing. Just because the rest of the country might not care, it doesn't mean that we can't and it doesn't mean that we don't. You are too quick to judge many of us Americans on here who do have a passion for the game and for their favorite clubs.
To answer your questions...
I've like soccer since I realized how great of a game it was. There are so many here who don't give a care and say it's boribg and sometimes it can affect how you think about the game. But when I actually sat down and watched it, when I understood what was going on, I became it love with the game. Yes, I do know about football, including the Premier League. I don't talk about Cristiano Ronaldo, and I don't much care about the tricks.
You say you are not trying to insult us, but you have. You think that because the US doesn't care, that the Americans on this forum know nothing of the game and don't care about it either, when a lot of us do.

Some people generalize with a broad brush.
You use an industrial paint sprayer.
To be fair, let me answer your questions.
-Since somewhere in the late 1970s when I was playing the game and going to every Tampa Bay Rowdies home game. I used to get upset that the youth leagues required shinguards, thus preventing me from shoving my socks down to my ankles a'la Rodney Marsh.
-Let's see...below the Premiership, there's the Championship, League 1 and League 2. These four divisions contain the 92 league sides in English football. Below that is three levels of Conference divisions; Conference, Conference North and South. Below that it really gets convoluted.
La Liga and Serie A are generally considered the other leagues that represent the "best". La Liga has been dominated for the most part by Real Madrid and Barcelona throughout its history. Juventus has been the dominant Serie A side, although AC Milan, Inter Milan have won a large percentage of silverware.
Serie A is rife with cheating. Say what you will, but one quarter of the teams in Serie A are suffering from some sort of point reduction and Juve has been relegated to Serie B.
Ligue 1 in France, the Dutch Eredivisie (sp?) and the Bundesliga in Germany probably fall somewhere just below these three in terms of overall quality. Argentinan football is fun to watch, but I don't like all the crap on the field. Mexicans think they are a better football country, but the USMNT owns El'Tri. :)
-Personally, I think C. Ronaldo uses one to many step overs most of the time. He tends to play himself off the ball at times by trying to show off.
Is that enough?

I's true football is fairly new to the states, but we're working on it and it's also true that most kids over here just like to show boat and don't see the importance of teamwork. As for talking about Ronaldo i've been a Man U fan since i was five and i saw his debute game where i was just as enchanted by his skill as the rest of the world. So i guess you're right for the most part, but what can you expect our version of football has big meatheads rubbing against each other. Oh well!!!!

First, you're making a gross generalization about Americans. Just because it's not publicized here, does not mean that people don't like it or understand it. I like soccer and understand the nuances. I also know more than the CR, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Beckham, etc. of the soccer world.
Second, it's a cultural thing. That would be like me saying, "Well, in the US, football (with a pigskin) is the most popular sport, so it should be the most popular sport in the world." That sounds a little ignorant, wouldn't you say?

It's true that most of us Yanks (300 million and counting) are not as passionate about the beautiful game. That's because our own brand of football (rugby-derived) has been very popular for a long time now. Also, we have baseball, long known as "America's National Pastime", and basketball and ice hockey. There simply isn't enough room in the national consciousness for yet another sport. Beckham's arrival in Los Angeles might have some effect, though. Also, soccer/football is commonly played by kids in the US, so there is hope for the future.

Some of us Americans can't get into soccer/football due to the low scoring. But, there are many that can, so don't put us all in one category. I'm sure there are some sports that I like that you would not like. Baseball? Golf?

yes we, who play for school and valley clubs and all, know very well. i am a football player, and yes, i have been to europe, preferably france alot, and thats what i call it. i know a lot about it, and i watch it a lot as well. not only the ebglish premiership, but also spanish, italian, and french clubs. i have a favorite team from all these different clubs, and if ya wanna know, my favorite english team is chelsea fc. i also watch our very own american "soccer", and i have always supported L.A. Galaxy and Chivas. I also go to the games whenever I can for these teams and my city team. But when I miss any game that I really wanted to see, i go to live-footy.org. So......does that answer your question????

Come on, man: there are all kinds of Hispanic baseball players here in the United States, and I can't think of anyone who doesn't accept them, welcome them, or respect them. Nobody tries to say that they can't understand baseball, or that they shouldn't be playing "our game." Why can't you do the same, and recognize that Americans can be good soccer players?
