It really depends on the individual, and sometimes on how old the singer is. The average range is F below middle C to a D two above middle C. But some altos can sing lower and others go higher.
The alto range is also broken into 1st alto and 2nd alto; 1sts can usually hit an E or F two above middle C pretty easily, and 2nds can often reach all the way down to a D below middle C.

Well the typical Alto voice has a range from a G below middle C to a high G but what you have probably is from a G below middle C to about a high E.

i am an alto with a fairly large range--i can sing from a G two octaves below middle C to a C two octaves above middle C.

alto (that means for a woman to sing the lower part) sings from G (the one that is under the middle C, 2 lines under the stave) until D(the one that is on the stave), in a range of an octave and 5 notes.
