It's sad! We could cleanly process only 2% of Alaska and have enough oil that would force OPEC's prices down strictly through the competitive market! The democrats love high gas prices! They believe that cars cause global warming and they don't understand that climate changes have happened on earth for 18,000 years! CO2 minus vapor has caused less than 0.28% of the CO2 in our atmosphere! With their big global warming money train they can't be stopped, only slowed! The dems know what they are doing! Think about it! They convince enough people that the US is a bad place.....they get more money and votes! They are not for freedom except for the first amendment! Gas prices always rise during the summer! More travel, more demand.....same supply! Price has to increase! It's supply and demand at it's best! The taxes that go into gas are unbelievable!!!!!! Over 35% of the price of gas goes straight to the government, not back into the economy! It's a joke! Republicans and democrats are both liars with followers! Don't be one! ~ Libertarian

A better question is why are gas prices so important. Calculate how much you spend on gas in a year compaired to all your other bills. Its not much.

The truth is the US government cannot control gas prices (unless they lower the average of 40 cents a gallon state taxes). The best thing we can do to keep gas prices low is to keep the middle east at its current stability or more stable. If we leave, gas will go up to 6$ a gallon... if we still have gas at all. (<--A little ominous staement, ment in good fun).

The USA has 2 million barrels of oil on reserve in case of national emergency. The government is refusing to tap into that oil reserve because the government doesn't believe we have any emergency right now. So, we have to play along with OPEC and play along with the prices they dictate. That price is high at $62 a barrel. There's really nothing we could do about it, but play nice with OPEC.

The biggest problems Democrats have is that they so dislike economics and capitalism, they forgot there are two factors influencing gas prices- supply and demand. Demand goes up this time of year as more people drive in warmer weather. It will go up until about Labor Day, when people drive less for vacations, etc.

Congress does not control the gasoline prices, the prices are determined by the cost of crude oil. When the cost of crude goes up, so do the prices at the pump, even though that gas may have been produced from cheaper crude.

Who ever said that was retarded. And I might say the same of you for giving it enough credit to even repeat it. If we are going to debate, lets try to do it intelligently. This is why I hate both parties.

Wow. You spelled Democrats wrong. I guess that doesn't make you retarded, but my original point still stands.

As long as Bush has his thumb on Iraqi Oil Production he can keep oil prices high enough that Chevron and Exxon can continue to bleed us dry

gas prices depend on a lot more than who gets elected in office! the current war, and other factors, like the policies of OPEQ, THOSE MIDDLE EASTERN ARABS, ARE VITAL TOO! the economy is vioatile and the gas prices reflect this!

No. It has little to do with Bush. (I hated to assert that....surely) Bush has led to an advance in expenditures because of the instability he led to in Iraq & midsection east as an entire. The Iranian president has additionally led to jitters by potential of his threats against Israel, and his threat appropriate to the gulf of Hormuz delivery lane. Then there is the certainty of grant and insist. With China & India gulping down extra crude than ever, and OPEC refusing to advance manufacturing.................... suited factors for you and me to pay a disasterous fee on the pump. I surely have abode heating pil. At cutting-edge expenditures, it fairly is going to fee me $1100 to fill my 275 gallon tank. i'm getting screwd two times. it fairly is why i purchase KY jelly. Will expenditures come down AFTER Bush is going? I fairly doubt it. grant & call for will proceed to be subject concerns. no rely who occupies the oval place of work is beside the point if the midsection east keeps to be volatile & violent, and keeps to threaten violence. until there is peace with Israel and the Palestinians, and the Iranian President shuts his mouth, parent on outrageous expenditures.
