Well, going on the pill is not going to make you stop having your period, unless you use the seasonale kind where you only have a few a year. But, i dont think you should just because you hate periods. Welcome to womanhood! Nobody likes them, but you need to have them! It cleans out your "insides" (uterus, etc) every month, it is a healthy thing. You will get used to them as time goes by, trust me, its not the worse thing, try childbirth. that sucks. :)

I would think so. Just because you hate your period does not mean you need birth control. I don't even think a doctor would give it to you unless you had severe PMS symptoms or were sexually active. I've had my period shortly after turning 10 and I am now 18 so I know what you mean. I don't think there are any women that actually enjoy that time of the month. But that is part of being a women so I think you just need to deal with it. Or like I said you are having problems.

well, i'm sorry to tell you this, but you are going to have a period for quite sometime. this means you are going through puberty, which is a part of life and your body will go through hormonal changes. if you want to go on the pill, you have to have the consent of your parents since you are 14. the pill won't stop you from getting a period, it's gonna encourage you to regulate in order to have a menstrual cycle. I know there is a pill on the market that lessens the period, but I wouldn't suggest it at this point in time. My advice is go with the flow of mother nature at the moment. Once you reach adulthood, then it's up to you. Also, I recommend pill for those who are sexually active and also having problems with menstraution

Unless you are sexually active I wouldn't. I have had so many problems since being on the pill. I gained weight, broke out with patches of dry skin all over my body. Brown patches are on my face. I took me 2 1/2 years to get pregnant after i stopped taking the pill since I was 17 when I started. My thyriod is all messed up and I have also been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. After 5 years of being off the pill. My skin has cleared up. The weight has dropped. I still have brown patches on my face but they are reduced in size. I am not saying this happens to everyone but there are side effects for certain people. You are trying to stop something that is natural for your body to have. It is a pain but unforunately all women go threw it and survive. Good Luck in your decision.

IMO, the only reason anyone should go on the pill is if they are sexually active. There are other methods of regulating a period if it is heavy/irregular that don't involve taking hormones.

However, that being said, you are not to young to go on the pill if you are sexually active, or if you are considering becoming sexually active.

Whether 14 is too young to have sex is a whole different conversation.

It's up to your parent or guardian. From a medical standpoint it's NOT too early. We're trying to get my 14-yr-old stepdaughter to go on the Pill, because she has uncomfortable, heavy periods. The pill should help regulate things.

Good luck!

I think it is too soon. I mean I wouldnt mess with pills until i become more grown and responsible. Wait a little and dont use that stuff so soon. I mean cmon you know this stuff affect your body and you too young to poison it. Use condoms and try to easy up on sex if you already active. There is nowhere to rush.

Everyone hates their period, you're definately not alone. But if you're not having serious problems with your period and you're not having sex then I seriously suggest that you don't get on birth control. Being on birth control this early in your life for that long can cause barreness when you're older. Which means you can't have children. Or it could make it very hard for you to have children. So please just deal with the inconvience so you don't have to deal with something much worse when you're older.
