I've always maintained that they should be called Newcastle United Players Crossings. But then,I'm biased.I hate zebras. That's because they held up the development of the modern world by being so stubborn. You see, when a zebra bites you,it doesn't let go so it was impossible to domesticate it,unlike the European horse, which greatly aided humans to the point of advancement in science and technology. So I hate zebras, and if I ever see one walking over a Newcastle United Players Crossing,I,m going to run it over.

1. Because a zebra can get to the other side (fast which is why you don't see them) and the badger very rarely makes it they really do need there own crossings.
2. you need to be carefull you've already seen what happens when YOU cross a badger.
3. Its quite a coincidence i was on the African plains the other day and there was a badger crossing (not a bloody badger in site but a big chuff off splatted zebra in the dusty gutter how very sad)

That's because you don't live in Africa where they probably do. The name Zebra Crossing most likely came about because someone just decided on a colour to paint on the road Then someone in the same office said "doesn't that remind you of a Zebra" Bingo Zebra Crossing. Not sure how we got "Panda crossing or Pelican Crossing" That's food for thought isn't.

zebra crossings are called so because of the thick stripes that are painted on the road at a designated crossing area. There are also pelican crossings and toucan crossings.
