The priveliges and rich are happy when gun control laws are extended. Yes, the ruling class thinks it's just great to disarm the common people. Of course, they don't even think for one moment of giving up their private bodyguards. And they live in houses protected by armed patrol service and put signs outside warning of "armed response."
Give up their own reliance on guns? Oh no no no. The point of gun control is to take away the ability of the peasants to defend themselves, or - the ultimate resort - to overthrow an oppressive government.

Do the British feel safe now , the answer has to be no. I think politicans on the whole are corrupt and out of touch with what we want. The idea that ciminals have just aquired weapons is far from the truth, going back some twenty years ago Moss Side was known as a no go area, as youngters carried guns. Just what did the Police do then? they ignored the fact and now have a`proplem. The whole system needs to go under review, such as bringing back the Rope , The people want it so why is it the govenment will not hear, is it they fear being hung

What good would "Law abiding citizens" owning weapons do?
Guns kill. Period, Killing = murder = criminal offence. Therefore we would have far more criminals and far less "law abiding citizens".
How can you use a gun without breaking the law?
Americans own guns - and in America husbands shoot their wives in domestics, neighbours shoot each other in heated arguments and and kids shoot each other at school. Is that a good thing? Is that what you're saying?
People don't need guns in this day and age!!! If the ordinary people armed themselves just because the criminals did then that is just a step on the road to anarchy. The whole point of the police is to protect us against criminals. Are you suggesting we take the law into our own hands? Scary. Sounds like a anarchist mess to me.

As a Brit, I can honestly say that I wouldnt feel safe with or without a gun. All it takes is for a good law abiding citizen with a gun to lose his/her mind (have a breakdown etc) and then the rest of us would be in big trouble.
I do think its ridiculous that all the police aren't armed. What are they supposed to do when they come face to face with an armed criminal - All they CAN do is run!!
- I say protect our officers - give them guns!

yes I do, the criminals here who have guns tend to shoot each other, there are very few cases of guns being used in robbery or other crimes. We did have cases of members of the public going bonkers and shooting people at random but now they can't legally hold weapons that is almost none existent.
We don't get incidents like Waco and Columbine.
YES our gun laws should be stricter we should ban BB guns and air rifles too
I thank all you Americans for answering for me.
But we are not one of your states and can speak for ourselves

Honestly it never crossed my mind. But I still think it's got to be safer. Cos if we had a gun in this house I probably would have shot my brother by now! Grrrrrr! Or alternatively myself, but either way don't think the rest of the family would be too happy!;)

the whole gun culture thing is growing rapidly in britain and kids and gun were always gonna be a lethal combination, i cant help but think society is to tolerent to what goes on outside but who can blame people for feeling like this when the law fails us in so many ways if you tackle someone for being on your property your likely to be the one who ends up in court

I'm not British so I don't know, but I live in South Georgia, and I do know that in the parts of town that arn't heavy with gang activity the crime rate is very low because they know everyone's got a gun in thier house.

The key question is: in,say , the last 20 years, how many innocent people have been murdered by legal gun owners and how many innocent people by illegal gun owners? I suspect the former group might still be ahead in the murder stakes.
