Yes the raptors are contenders. As soon as they made Bryan Colangelo team president and general manager they beacame contenders.. Colangelo was the guy that put together the Phoenix Suns and look what they've dones.. They needed a point guard that could make plays so they traded for TJ Ford one of the top point guards in the NBA when healthy.. He's avg 14 points, 7.7 assist and 1.3 steals per game.. They drafted Andrea bargnani who has turned out to be good as. They traded Fred Jones for Juan Dixon which I thought was a good trade for them.. Not to mention they have Chris Bosh who is one of the best forwards in the NBA.. They have a pretty good bench, with Morris Peterson, Juan Dixon and Andrea Bargnani coming off the bench.. Oh did I mention they play in the east, lead their division by 3.5 games and are 8-2 in conference play.. The only teams they have to worry about are the Bulls, Heat and Pistons.. So yeah they are contenders.

Toronto doesn't have the playoff experience that the other teams you mentioned have. I say pretender right now. They will obviously make the playoffs, but have no chance at taking an eastern conference championship from teams like detroit or miami (with D Wade). Chris Bosh is a very deserving all star, but there is just not enough around him right now i don't think.

they nevertheless have the variety to bypass yet they are going to be extra useful then final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Mo Pete and Bosh are the leaders of this team so as that especially good. it surely relies upon of the emergence of Andrea Bargnani. If he's composed of be a bust fowl the Raptors won't accomplish that good yet whilst he gets extra useful because of the fact the video games bypass by potential of they are in a position to have something to watch for. Playoffs no, progression from final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days maximum confident.

Contenders in the East, but Pretenders because they cannot beat anyone in the NBA Finals.

Pretenders. But, lucky for them, they are in the East, so they will probably make the playoffs. They will most likely lose in the playoffs also, but will get valuable experience for the future. They need an outside threat to balance Bosh.

i think everyone can safely assume pretenders. yes they have improved. yes they are a top of their division...but with a winning percentage around and just under 60%...its not going to be enough to beat the power teams with the experience and the ice cold veins that players have in the clutch....round 1 exit!!!!

they have skill and talent, but in the playoffs theyll need experience. theyll be tough to beat til the playoffs, when their lack of experience affects them. but next year theyll be tough in the playoffs also.
