Al ... Vista requires a fast computer with plenty of RAM; there's no doubt about that. It's also buggy. Yes, you can find some people having a good experience, but have you ever heard the advice about not buying a re-designed vehicle? For example, if an auto manufacturer comes out with a completely redesigned model for 2007, most people would advise waiting until the 2008 models come out. By then they'll have the bugs worked out. And it's the same with Vista. But there's no need to be believing me or others who've answered with negative comments about Vista. Just see these links below. And there are more such comments out there; a simple search will uncover them easily.
My advice is either: (1) Tolerate the bugs until the first service pack for Vista comes out, which is probably several months away; (2) Go back to XP if you can; or (3) Make sure your CPU is far above the minimum speed required and get at least 1.5 to 2 Gigs of RAM.
Good luck with it, Al.

Vista sucks; I know it sounds clichéd by now. My brother bought a new computer last week and it came with Vista. I must admit, however, that the user interface is a real nice improvement over XP; but I wouldn’t trade looks for compatibility. Nothing works on Vista. I’ve ordered an XP CD which I'm going to install on it. Vista alone uses up about 700MB of RAM at any given time, leaving no memory for programs. So it's possibly an issue of RAM for you.

Well, it is a new operating system.
New OS's always have bugs when they are first released. Think of the initial public release of an operating system as a Beta that you actually pay for.
I always wait until about a year after an operating system has been available, that way I know most of the bugs have been worked out.

Vista is terrible. I played with it for five minutes and was sick to my stomach. It really is time to get a Mac.
