My family owns a tanning salon so I know just about everything there is when it comes to tanning. Tanning everyday can get a little out of hand, but if you have a special occasion coming up, you will be fine. Just as long as you're not tanning everyday for the entire month. Too tan doesn't even look good. Also just make sure when you go tanning to NOT GET BURNED. That's what's unhealthy is when you get sunburned. So take it slow and start off not going for long periods of time. Also use lotion!! Put some kind of tanning lotion on before you get into the bed and put normal lotion on after you shower. The more moisturized your skin is, the tanner you will get and the longer the tan will stay.
Good Luck and I hope you have fun at the dance with your great tan =]

When you're young, you don't worry about skin damage, skin cancer or wrinkles. But too much exposure to ultra violet rays of the sun when you're young, can have lasting damage that doesn't show up until you're in your 50's or 60's, or even sooner. I would definitely limit sun exposure to only 15 minutes a day, and avoid the hours between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., when the sun's rays are the strongest. If you must be out in the sun, be sure to use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, and apply it often, especially if you're swimming or perspiring heavily.

If you're trying to look tan for a special occasion, why not try the self-tanners? There are many good ones on the market. Or you can even try the "sunless" tanning parlors. They give a good convincing tan by spraying you all over with self-tanner. These will not harm your skin, and you'll look like you've spent the entire winter in Florida. Good luck!

None. Been there done that and had melanoma as a result. Which do you prefer - nice tan now or a pretty scar (at best) down the road? And just so there's clarification - when you are tan (from the sun or beds, not the spray on crap - that is a sign that damage has already been done to your skin.

I don't think it would be bad at all to go 5-6 times a week. I used to go a couple of times a day before the whole skin cancer scare came out. I still go at least once a day. You get a lot more attention from being tan. Respect, Power, Popularity, Etc.

Tanning is bad for you and I think women look better pale. The whole tan thing is just crazy because I don't think guys care that much.

I go 3x's a week to get a base tan, you can go every day as long as you do not burn. In order to keep up your tan you will have to go at lest once a week.

Never. You will get wrinkles, age spots and possibly skin cancer. Use a self tanning product instead.

to reduce the risk of getting cancer you should only tan 10 or less times a year.
