When did computers use only capital letters, and up to which year?

I never heard of this. I started using computers in 1971 and we had upper and lower case then.

We didn't have CDs, DVDs, hard drives, monitors, floppy disks, USB or any of that stuff, but we did have lower case letters.

Programs were saved on paper tapes with holes punched in them.
